“Reasons for Choosing to Study at Faculty of Education, SWU”

l High reputation: As a member of “211 Project” and “Double First-class” universities, SWU has an extensive set of disciplinary categories including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management and art.

l Strong discipline: Faculty of Education is one of the leading faculties of education in China, and its education is the First Class Discipline in China. It has a post-doctoral educational research station, and provides 13 PhD degree programs, 14 master’s degree programs and 4 bachelor’s degree programs.

l Strong faculty: Over 120 full time teachers, including 1 American full-time professor; more than 60 professors and 60 associate professors (including research fellows). More than 90% of teachers have Ph.D. Degree, and more than 70% of them have overseas experiences.

l Solid foundation in research: The Faculty has established 13 sub-discipline research centers, including a State-key Discipline (Curriculum and Pedagogy) , a Key Liberal Arts Base of the Ministry of Education, a National 2011 Collaborative Innovation Sub-Center, etc. Among these research platforms, four of them are on the list of Chinese Think Tank Index (CTTI).

l International exchanges and cooperation: The Faculty earns prestige and reputation through steady international academic cooperation with more than 20 well-known universities overseas, such as, University College London in UK, University of British Columbia in Canada, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Michigan State University in USA.

l Less expense: Studying at SWU Chongqing costs you much less because the consumption level in Chongqing is comparatively much lower than in most other major cities in China.

l Beautiful campus: 600-hectare garden-like campus located near Jialing River and Jinyun Mountain, ranks 4th biggest in China, and is a well-known movie location.

The English-taught PhD & Master Degree Programs

The English-taught PhD & Master degree programs of Faculty of Education were established in 2013. Through ten years construction, this program has established a strong teaching team and gained reputation in its good educational quality. Our teaching team has 12 professors and 18 associate professors, all of whom have oversea learning experiences. More than 30 English-taught courses have been developed. One won the National Brand Course for International Students (in English), and three won the Brand Course for International Students (in English) of Chongqing. Scholarship

SWU provides seats of different types of scholarships for international graduate students (i.e. a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China), including Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC), Chongqing Mayor Scholarship, New Silk Road Scholarship, and SWU President Scholarship.

The CSC scholarship covers tuition, laboratory experiment, internship, accommodation on campus, Comprehensive Medical Insurance, and CNY 3,000 Yuan (Master) or 3,500 Yuan (PhD) as monthly living allowance.

CSC Application deadline: February 15^th, 2024. The Scholarship interview will be held around early March 2024. (Note: if an applicant doesn’t get the recommendation letter from one of SWU professors, he/she still can apply our program in CSC&SWU systems. After his/her application information is approved, Faculty of Education will notify him/her by email about the exam and interview).
